Cross-border heritage and music events
Since 2008, the Public Body for Cultural Collaboration (EPCC) Royal Saltworks and the « Opéra Décentralisé Neuchâtel » (ODN) have been working together to organise events known as the “Jardins Musicaux”. Since 2010 and in collaboration with the le Parc Chasseral, the ODN has also been involved in a project named “Bal(l)ades”. The cooperation project is based on three inter-related principles:
> Simultaneous discovery of an element of national heritage and a piece of music
> Active collaboration of local services (welcome sites, speakers, caterers and accommodation providers)
> Cross-border mobility for visitors.
The two partners now wish to reap the fruit of their cooperation, the Swiss model and experience to combine their networks and means to enhance cross-border influences, and turn the Bal(l)ades concept into a larger-scale and long-term project on both sides of the border. The aim of the project is to reach a wide audience, and in the long-run, become financially self-sustained.
In 2015, the Saltworks site will continue its work to enhance the range of cross-border cultural events by welcoming a new Chaplin film-concert in the Western Berniers building featuring “The Gold Rush”.
