The development of « go-as-you-like » tourism in the French-Swiss border region on the historical salt routes.
Terra Salina is a cross-border collaboration project spearheaded by the Public Body for Cultural Collaboration (EPCC), the Arc-et-Senans Royal Saltworks, in France, and the city of Yverdon-les-Bains / the Association for the development of the Northern Vaud region (ADNV), in Switzerland; the project is also made possible with the support of a significant number of financial, institutional and field partners.
The project receives funding from the European Union in the framework of the « INTERREG 4A France-Switzerland » programme, and its main focus is to promote existing cross-border tourist attractions. The Terra Salina programme enables visitors to discover the historical salt routes and the French-Swiss UNESCO Heritage sites.
One of the viewpoints of the project is the www.terrasalina.eu website, a multi-faceted tool enabling visitors to prepare and customise hikes or visits using other means of transportation. The website is also available in English, and users can plan their itinerary based on their interests, physical abilities, and the time that they have available for the outing. The site also offers the possibility to book package deal tours and buy guidebooks for those who wish to travel independently.
