Triumphant first prize winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2017, the young cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière founded and directed the Orchestre Consuelo in 2021. The orchestra takes a passionate approach to the symphonic repertoire through the prism of chamber music.
On the programme of this concert in the magnificent Ledoux hall, the famous variations of Tchaikovsky, alternating virtuosity, meditation and elegy, followed by Brahms’ second serenade, which delicately prefigures the grand symphonic opuses of the Viennese master. Finally, Strauss’ suite, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, an absolute gem of stage music, combines the composer’s romanticism with his love of Lully’s baroque music.
