Less than 2 hours 30 from Paris, Lyon or Geneva, the Saline royale is between Jura and Doubs, in an eight-hectare area and five minutes from Chaux forest, the second largest natural forest in France.

Dogs are permitted on leads on the premises of the Saline royale but arenot allowed inside the buildings.

Guided tours

A guide will show you the 11 buildings, the living and working quarters for the salt workers and provide commentary on the “Salt Stories” exhibition before introducing you to the life and work of Ledoux.

Self-guided tours

Visitors can wander independently through the grounds and the temporary and permanent exhibitions with the Histopad tablet (included in the ticket price and translated into 10 languages: French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, simplified Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese) for an augmented reality visit.

Lunch and accommodation

Treat yourself to a break during your visit with lunch at the Table des Jardins, or extend your visit by staying in the 3-star hotel in the grounds of the Saline royale.
